Following the collapse of PSG in early June, DESA Australia is pleased to announce that it has been able to provide employment for a number of tradesmen and office staff across Australia.
The appointments include Senior Managers Brett Ferris and Darren Hanlen in Melbourne and Tom Price in Sydney.
DESA Managing Director Gerard Whitely commented: “The collapse of PSG was unfortunate for the industry as a whole and it is good to see many of its staff have found roles in other companies”. “We are particularly pleased to welcome Brett, Darren and Tom, who are all well respected and experienced industry identities. Brett and Tom will help boost our electrical project capability and Darren our estimating expertise and there are a number of other staff being welcomed into our business who will help us deliver many of the growth opportunities we see in the market”.
“Following on from the collapse of the Hastie Group in 2012, the collapse of PSG serves as a timely reminder of the inherent risks in the sub-contracting industry. This is a highly competitive and fragmented industry with many players with a weak capital base. Both PSG and Hastie appeared to grow quickly through acquisition without adequate controls and systems in place to manage that growth.”
”DESA Australia has been established for 25 years and, over that time, growth has almost exclusively been organic. We have always maintained a strong financial base and a rigorous control framework to ensure we are here for the long haul”.
