Double honour for DESA Australia

DESA Australia’s commitment to excellence has been recognised by its peers at the 2015 National Electrical Communications Association Victorian Excellence Awards.

These awards acknowledge the most technologically and professionally managed projects in Victoria and allow members to showcase their top projects. This year, DESA Australia’s Victorian team has been recognised in two highly competitive categories.NECA6

Michael Richardson’s team took top honours in Category 10: Commercial – Medium Project for their work on the recently completed Digital Realty fit out for Softlayer with the MEL 11 data centre.

This project was a design and construct fit out for this new state of the art Data centre. It was completed within a 5-week time frame and a week ahead of schedule, despite the design being adjusted and modified during all phases of the project.

This included the requirement for temporary wrap around power supplies, which provided the ability to isolate the A or B-side of the UPSs without interrupting client power and operation.

The MEL 11 data centre project was split into two distinct works packages – Electrical Infrastructure and Electrical Fit Out. It was a significant specialist electrical project with the team producing outstanding workmanship and management to bring home first place against 6 other impressive finalists.

“We knew we had a strong entry and were fairly confident we’d do well,” says Project Group Manager Michael Richardson.

“But as the other finalists were announced, I thought ‘wow, this will be tough’ as we were up against some massive jobs. Fortunately, it was our name that was called out”.

“We had one of the customers fly out from the United States for the event and it was great that he was there when we won. It was a real buzz and we were delighted that he was able to share it with us”.

DESA Australia was also awarded a Certificate of Commendation in Category 8: Voice/Data. This category is for a vNECA3oice/data communications project of any contract value.

The team headed by Anthony Reinke partnered with Stokes Technologies to provide a turnkey Audio Visual solution for the project. Through clever engineering and efficient product selection, the DESA team delivered a leading technology solution. It incorporated the complete Event AV, communications, power c-bus and lighting installation to CGU’s Corporate Head Office; level 1 and 2, 181 William Street, Melbourne.

“This is the biggest AV project that we have ever undertaken and has helped establish DESA Australia as a serious player in the Audio Visual industry” says Project Group Manager Anthony Reinke.

“This project was completed for Jones Lang LaSalle and it was pleasing to get great feedback from them on how well the solution was delivered and we look forward to the opportunity of working with them on future projects”.

The 2015 NECA Excellence Awards are an important achievement for the DESA Australia team and further enhance the company’s reputation within the industry. They also further build on the already strong relationships DESA has with its clients.
