Every two years, DESA Australia brings together its operations management staff from across the country for a two-day conference.
Held in mid-March, approximately sixty people gathered in Melbourne for the conference, which also served as a way to cement relationships and facilitate team building.
“It’s great to get the project managers and state managers together, where we are able to discuss what we want to achieve as a business: our new goals, the current strategy, how the business is going and what the outlook is for the future” says DESA’s Victorian Operations Director Robert Baird.
“There are always strategic issues that come out of these conferences but, in general terms, it’s a really good opportunity for our interstate teams to catch up, exchange views and knowledge and a chance to visit head office”.
Over the course of the two days, attendees were involved in a variety of sessions including some dedicated to safety. DESA Australia’s commitment to workplace safety was recently acknowledged by Jones Lang LaSalle and named ‘contractor most consistent in safety’.
“We also involved most staff in AV training workshops. It’s an area of our business that we’re doing more work in and we want our staff across Australia to be offering more of these solutions,” says Robert.
“It was a great chance to update everyone on the systems and their capabilities. We were able to establish the best ways to approach and talk to the market”.
The conference has helped build on a workplace camaraderie already evident across the DESA network. It is a big part of what it means to work for DESA and what sets the company apart from its competitors.
